Dear Friends

Thank you for coming to see this page to discover more about us.

When I first set the Become a Lord website and a couple of others I struggled to do everything myself and struggled was the right word as the whole market for this product suddenly opened up when we came on board.

Obviously there was a need for unique personalized gifts that were not being met anywhere else. Since then we have worked hard to improve the overall product to make it even better value for you — our customers.

For example we have revised and expanded the size of our Become a Laird of Jura handbook twice the latest edition revised in 2007 includes a guide to some Scottish traditions for example first-footing at hogmanay and some examples of Scottish humour. We have also developed a CD-ROM crammed full of Scottish images and more about the history of the Isle of Jura and Scotland.

A number of customers have written to ask if I can help them show their new title on their UK passport, driving licences and bank accounts.  So we commissioned some legal research on it and have produced a new ebook on the subject with all the legal information in it.  Despite having had to pay a considerable amount of money for this research and production it is being made available at no charge to our customers as part of our commitment to you.

We are still a very small concern employing just three/four people (more in the November and December when purchases of Christmas gifts rockets upwards).   Some of the people are specialist and/or part time but this is great as it gives all of us a much greater commitment to each other as we all recognise the real need for teamwork.

You have already met Andy our official piper but read more about him below.

Meet Andy MacStewpot Official Piper to the Laird of Jura Team

Thankfully this fellow turns up at our office on special occasions only.  His music is just too disruptive to get any work done when he arrives.

When he turns up unexpectedly I have to run out and tie a couple of people to their desk otherwise they are up and doing a Scottish Highland Reel during work-time.

Whilst I enjoy seeing staff enjoying themselves at work I also need to make sure all your orders are sent out on time and to the correct address every time!

Mind you he is great fun and we do enjoy ourselves when he does turn up!

Anyone looking to buy him a wee dram of Isle of Jura malt Whisky?

Wish I could say the picture on the right was the view from deer on hillour office window but unfortunately it is not!

We are based in Aberdeen — the third largest city in Scotland — but ask any supplier to deliver here and they will tell you it is classed as being in the remote Scottish highlands. I suspect that this is to justify every delivery to us taking longer and sometimes more expensive.

The strange thing is although deliveries can take longer to reach Averdeen all packages leaving Aberdeen reach their destination very fast so it must be the delivery lorries just can't go uphill as easily as they go downhill. Stagecoaches had the same problem who says we have advanced!

One day we may move the whole office to the Isle of Jura but I can't even think about that at the moment there is just no way I would want to lose any of our team here. I am as fully committed to them as they are committed to making sure you get the right packs on time every time.
